How to Maintain your Mane

When styling your hair with heat, it is important to use heat protection and hair care products.

Today I will be suggesting some hair care products that will help you maintain healthy, shiny hair while styling and using heat. Hair care doesn’t just start in the shower, if you want healthy hair without split ends or a straw like feel; you must 'maintain your mane'!

Due to new technology and new discoveries, there are plenty of hair products to choose from. If you regularly dye your hair and want to learn how to style your hair with heat, then you will need a shampoo and conditioner which protects your colour and deeply conditions. You don't need to go wild on designer shampoo; the high street has some great options. From the high street I would recommend Aussie hair products. My hair is naturally dry and a little frizzy and Aussie hair products work wonders on my hair. They have a range of hair products to suit you such as "Take the Heat" and "Frizz Control". They also have a range of products to help you style your hair and protect your hair while doing it. One of my favourite Aussie hair products is the ‘Ausssome conditioning texturising spray’. Texturising spray is a must have when styling your hair as it gives your hair a little "voomph" which is brilliant when you're going for a plumped up volume look.

If you dye your hair often or use a lot of heat then invest in a leave in conditioner to use once a week. Leave in conditioners are designed to nourish your hair, protect your colour and strengthen your hair. The leave in conditioner I currently use is Lo'real Elvive Colour Protect. It leaves my hair soft, shiny and leaves my blonde highlights glowing which is exactly what you want.

When it comes to styling your hair and using heat, you definitely need a good heat protection spray. The most popular heat protection spray on the market is VO5 heat protection spray. This spray helps to protect your hair from turning dry and dull when using heat on your hair. It keeps your hair looking shiny and gives it a smooth soft texture.

A little bit about me :)

Currently, I am in my second year of higher education at Aberdeen College studying HND Media and Communication. At the end of my second year, I will go in to the third year of University and achieve my Honours Degree in Media and Communication. Education is very important to me as it gives me the chance to expand my knowledge and intelligence. My course allows me to be creative and use my communication skills to the best of my ability.
On the days I am not in college, I work as a Supervisor in Primark LTD, in Aberdeen. Being promoted to a Supervisor at the age of seventeen was a great achievement and gave me the chance to learn about management skills, which will be an important asset to have in the future.
Well... a little bit about me personally. I'm a little wild and have always had a natural instinct to rebel (this could be due to my mother being my deputy head teacher throughout secondary school) I like to step outside the box and be a little different. Not extreme...I'm not covered in tattoos and piercings and dress like a clown... (Not that there's anything wrong with that)...that's just not me. I'm just normal....well not completely ;)
I have many interests and hobbies which include: singing, music, playing guitar, art, photography, style and fashion. However, the purpose of this blog is to bring out another creative side of me which I've never really put in the spotlight until now....
Gina’s Big Hair is going to be about how I get creative with my hair. I have always had long hair down to my backside and about one year ago I became interested in finding out how celebs, models etc, turn their hair in to beautiful big waves and curls. I began watching tutorial videos on YouTube and from each one I learned something new, whether it was about styling, care for your hair, hair products etc.
What I aim to do in this blog is to tell you everything I have learned and what I know about styling hair and achieving different looks whether you have short, long or mid length hair. I'm not a hairdresser or a professional hair stylist. I just want to show you how to get great volume and great style without it having to take hours and hours. Some of my hair styles take ten minutes! Once you have read this blog, you will have no excuse not to do your hair in the morning!
Gina’s Big Hair will include: video tutorials, photos, hair product reviews and many more tips and tricks!
