The Uncovered Truth Behind Hair Extensions

Over the years, many celebrities have been investing money into hair extensions to create bigger, fuller hair and now women across the world are following in their footsteps. Recent research shows that women in Britain spend over £65 million every year on hair extensions!

But, have you ever wondered where the human hair comes from?

The BBC did an investigation with the pop star Jamelia to discover the mystery behind the production of hair extensions. What they discovered was shocking. In India women and children and even men go to have their heads shaved as a last resort for money. The BBC and Jamelia watched in horror, as they went to an Indian Temple and watched a two year old girl have her head shaved. The little girl looked at her mother in sadness as tears rolled down her cheeks as her long thick hair hit the ground. Her mother too was also getting her head shaved. The mother said she needed the money or else all her belongings would be repossessed. Jamelia and the BBC also discovered that not all the Indian women and children knew their hair was being sold, a lot of them had been told to do it as a religious sacrifice. They were told by shaving their head, their prayers would be answered by God. Who has the right to take advantage of the uneducated like that and take away women and children's beauty which is extremely important in India for marriage prospects? Not only in India has selling hair become popular as a last resort, also in Russia many girls as young as 13 are selling their hair for money.

Recent studies also showed that some hair extensions were taken from corpses! Women could be wearing a dead person's hair! When the BBC interviewed a hair dealer, he would not comment on whether the hair he was buying and selling was from dead corpses. Why does this man have the right to take away one woman's beauty for another woman's vanity? The whole secret business is disgusting and women of the western world need to start opening their eyes instead of turning a blind eye to the truth behind hair extensions.
